Lisa A. Matthews

Lisa Matthews, EdD, MPH, MSc, is a public health researcher and health educator with over sixteen years of experience directing the development and implementation of National Institutes of Health (NIH) health disparities-focused research awards. She manages the Community Health Workers United to Reduce Colorectal Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Among People at Higher Risk (CHURCH) and works with a team of researchers dedicated to eliminating the burden of colorectal cancer among African Americans.

Matthews has an extensive work history in minority health with an interest in promoting health equity, social justice, and civic engagement within disinvested communities. She completed a doctorate at Teachers College, Columbia University and has additional academic training with an MS from the same institution and an MPH from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Matthews has published in public health, clinical informatics, health literacy, and HIV.
